I got a message saying my phone bill was at 80% of my monthly internet and I began getting charged 3 minutes later with 8.80 euros per minute. I read about the delayed charges but there is simply no way I could have used that much data within 4 hours?? I was also at an event with my phone switched off and had no idea I was receiving this constant charge the entire time as soon as I received that message my data stopped working. I am an international student and I cannot afford to pay the 316 euro bill as it is a massive amount of money for me Is there any way I can sort this out?
Hi
Thank you for your message. How sorry to hear that you incurred out-of-bundle charges due to internet usage!
We always send alert messages at 80% and 100% usage of your data bundle. These text messages come directly from the network and are always leading. In the last text message we also clearly indicate what the tariff is from that moment on (€0.15 per MB) and that it is wise to turn off the internet or to buy an internet bundle. From Simyo, we do our best to warn our customers in time. If you have incurred high costs outside your bundle within a short period of time, we block your SIM card as a precaution and send an e-mail about this.
Due to privacy laws, we cannot see where the MBs have been used. However, you can often find this out via the settings in your phone. I recommend looking in your phone's settings to find out the cause of your high usage.
We recently introduced the option to enable a data cap for €0.50 cents per month. This will prevent you from incurring charges outside your bundle again due to internet usage. We have also created a topic on the forum with detailed information about the data cap. I definitely recommend activating a data cap via My Simyo.
I understand that the charges were not made intentionally. Would you like to send me a private message with your phone number and personal details? I'll be happy to see what we can do for you to resolve this together.
Greetings,
Roeqajja
