eSIM has no mobile data

I downloaded an eSIM with another company. It worked for a few days and then suddenly I had no data. I tried to solve it with the support team. We tied a lot of things:

- turning on and off airplane mode

- turning my phone on and off

- verified that the eSIM was working properly multiple times. We checked the ICCID and that roaming was activated.

- we manually configured the APN

- checked that automatically select network was on

- changed to a different network type from 5G to 4G

- manually change network operator from Vodafone to KPN

- checked network coverage of my location (everything was fine)

- we deleted and reinstalled the eSIM

And after that... Still no data. They offered to escalate thing but I thought maybe it was a company problem and I switched to Simyo, and... No data.

I tried all of the above with the new eSIM except reinstalling the eSIM but it doesn't work.

I don't understand why it doesn't work. I got the eSIM so I could keep my original phone number and use the eSIM and dutch phone number while I'm in the NL. But it's not working.

So I'm seeking help. I have a Motorola edge 60. A physical SIM with a Mexican phone number and the eSIM with the Dutch number. Does anyone know what's going on? I think it might be something about my phone but I have no idea.

Hi @Cam,

Thank you for you message. It is really frustrating that your mobile data is still not working, but you have done an amazing job troubleshooting all those steps already! Since this issue has now happened with two different Dutch providers, the cause is highly likely not a faulty eSIM, but a Dual SIM conflict or a network restriction on your Motorola Edge 60. When using a foreign physical SIM (like your Mexican card) alongside a local eSIM, Android can sometimes get confused about which SIM card is allowed to route the mobile data.

The most important step is to check if your Simyo eSIM is explicitly selected for mobile data. You can verify this by going to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs. Make sure that the option "Mobile data" or "Preferred SIM for data" is explicitly set to your Simyo eSIM. If it is still set to your Mexican SIM, your Dutch data will not work. Additionally, when combining a foreign and local SIM, it is sometimes necessary to toggle "Data Roaming" to ON specifically within the Simyo eSIM settings to kickstart the connection, even though you are currently in the Netherlands.

If that does not solve it, your phone might have a regional carrier lock. If you purchased this Motorola in Mexico or outside Europe, the phone sometimes restricts data transmission to your home network only. The device will read the Simyo eSIM profile (which is why you see network bars), but internally blocks the actual data traffic. You can easily test this by completely removing your Mexican physical SIM card from the phone, restarting the device, and checking if the Simyo eSIM suddenly starts working. If that still fails, you can go to Settings > System > Reset options and select "Reset mobile network settings" to clear any stuck network conflicts, which will not delete your eSIM.

Please try testing it without the Mexican SIM card and let us know if that makes a difference!

Kind regards,
Shaniqua

Thank you @Shaniqua

The Roaming was turned on, as well as the preferred SIM for mobile data was set to Simyo.

I tried turning off my Mexican SIM as well as removing it, turning on airplane mode and restarting the device. But I still got no data. I also did the reset mobile network settings and still no data.

Are there any other solutions? My device was purchased in Mexico and I've been hearing a lot of people struggle with this. So, if there are no more options I think I need to cancel my eSIM plan and get a physical SIM. With which I will need help.

Thank you very much for your help so far.

Kind regards,

Cam
