Vraag

eSIM not receiving UK calls, what to do?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any issues with receiving calls from a UK eSIM. I am on a Dutch network with a Dutch sim and a UK eSIM. (Dual sim iphone14) I can make UK calls from my UK ESIM but can’t receive them, UK support seem to think it’s a NL network block ??any advice appreciated!

My setup (iPhone 13) is almost identical: I have two eSIMs, one from Simyo and another one from a UK provider (Spusu). I am not in the Netherlands at the moment, but during my last visit I did not experience the problem that you have reported.

In the Mobile Service setting of your iPhone, are both SIMS configured to select a network automatically? Furthermore, what happens if you change the Voice & Data setting for your UK eSIM?

Not sure if this make any difference, but it’s worth trying.

Hi @LBradders,

Thanks for your question. This is definitely something I haven't heard about before. I see that @Scotsman has already shared some information based on his own experience. Like him, I also wonder what happens if you change the voice and data setting for your UK eSIM. If that doesn't work, I’ll need to contact our network specialist to see if they can assist you further.

Greetings,
Seren

Thank you, I will try that. It is the Spusu sim I am using too…frustrating!

One more thing that sprang to mind because you can make calls using your UK number but cannot receive calls from the UK. The persons who try to call you when you are in the Netherlands, are they using the international prefix for the Netherlands, i.e. +31? That will not work of course, they should be dialling your normal UK number, e.g. 079******** or +4479********. Just a thought.

I’d be interested to know what your UK caller hears if anything when they try to call you on your Spusu number.

Apparently you’ve already spoken with Spusu support, have they not suggested to delete the eSIM and reinstall? I’m beginning to think the issue is with the Spusu eSIM, and not with the Dutch network you are roaming on, or with Simyo since it seems that making and receiving calls with the Simyo eSIM is working, right?

What if you manually change the Spusu eSIM connection to another network (since you are roaming in the Netherlands you probably have the option to select a different network).
