To the Internet on your iPhone3GS 8GB you need to set the correct GPRS / EDGE settings on the iPhone set.
This can be done from the home screen through Settings - General - Network - Edge.
Next you enter the following:
APN: internet
Username: KPN
Password: gprs
Note: These settings apply only if your software is older than version 4.2
