Like several other people here I have been incorrectly charged on my phone number. My family was visiting the Netherlands and so I bought 4 sim cards for them with simyo last month, as they advertise their low prices, it is a gimmick to pull in customers and then charge them exorbitantly high amounts.

Last evening they left and travelled back home. Today I log in to cancel subscriptions and I see that they have been all systematically been charged 60EUR as outside of bundle costs. Co-incidence? I THINK NOT. I confirmed with my family they did not use their data, and yet all 4 simcards have the same charge.

I see this is a common unlawful practice at Simyo. And I want to dispute the charges. I did not find any channels to formally address this complaint, (I wonder why Simyo is not making it accessible), except this forum. If this dispute is not addressed formally, I will explore external avenue to take this dispute up.

Hi @S.Ghosh,

Thank you for your message. I can imagine that you were shocked by these costs. I just looked at one of the subscriptions you mentioned, and I see that the charges were incurred outside of the bundle due to internet usage in the United Arab Emirates.

We always send "border messages" once you enter a different country. In those messages, we inform you about the costs in that specific country. When you travel outside of the Netherlands, we block your SIM card as a precaution once you have €60.50 in internet charges from abroad. This is likely why all other SIM cards have the same charge.

As you can see, we always send atleast two warning SMS messages to our customers. It is important to know that as long as the internet connection on the SIM card is active, data can be used both consciously and unconsciously. This can happen through updates or applications that remain active in the background, especially if the SIM card is left in the phone while traveling.

Of course, I understand that this was not intended on your part or theirs. This is why I would like to review your subscription with you to see if I can help. Can you send me a private message? Then I can ask you for some personal information.

Greetings,
Seren
