Unexpected €60 roaming charges in China (Request for coulance)

Hi Simyo team,

I recently traveled back to China and noticed an unexpected €60 roaming charge on my account.

I understand a warning text was sent at 07:39, but my mobile data was already switched to my Chinese SIM at that time, so I believed it was safe. However, the actual usage on my Simyo SIM did not start until 14:08.

This means a temporary network glitch or accidental background sync triggered the €60 limit instantly at 14:08. I did not have 7 hours to stop the ongoing charge; it literally happened within seconds before I could even react.

Since this is my very first time experiencing this, could you please grant a one-time gesture of coulance and credit these costs?

Thank you so much for your understanding!

Hello @H.Y,

Thank you for your message. I understand that you are shocked by these extra costs.

If you want to make sure you can not make extra costs when you're in China you can better turn off the internet in your Mijn Simyo account. When this option is on it is still possible that internet is used with your Simyo simcard.

Can you send me a private message with your personal information? Then i will have a look at the costs for you.

Bedankt voor je reactie @Friesian

Greetings,
Amy

Dear @H.Y

What an unfortunately bad luck to happen. Every kind of usage in China is out of bundle. The charges are made by the roaming partner which you used.

Next time you better turn off at your Simyo setting, internet en bellen. Bellen (and) internet uit in het buitenland.

Ik don't think that Simyo the costs will be able to credit because they are made.

A moderator, an employée of Simyo will respond also.

Hi Friesian,

Thanks for your reply!

But I checked the same questions and found Simyo would give them compensation, so is this policy different between China and other countries?

Hi @H.Y

Normally the fees for Internet in Asian countries are €5 -, - /MB.

When you look at the terms/conditions of roaming it's very clear.

Some regions of the world it works different, for example Cyprus, a Greek part and an Turkish part.. (roam like at home

For your question it is good to have an employee who is looking for what is possible. They  do understand as well as I do that the costs are not made on purpose.

Good luck, succes.

Please let us know if you had an good solution from @Amy .👍
