Dear Simyo staff,

Because my Nexus 4 just got broken, I need to buy a new phone. I am planning to buy or the Nexus 5X or the Xiaomi Mi5.

Regarding the Mi5 the big question mark is, will it have proper reception on your/KPN network? I don't have (and I don't need) 4G, so I don't really care about that.

These are the frequencies and protocols supported by the phone:

2G: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2; CDMA 800 / 1900

3G: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100; CDMA2000 1xEV-DO; TD-SCDMA

4G: LTE 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)

Thank you!
I see no reason why those phones won't work. 🙂
Hello Raytje,

The Nexus 5X will surely work, but the Mi5 was not designed to work in Europe, so certain frequencies are not supported.

In most of the cases 3G should work fine, but for example in 4G depending on the Simyo/KPN's network frequencies it can have low reception in an area where a particular frequency, that is not supported by the phone, is used. This is the case of LTE 800MHz.

But basically I just wanted to know what are the frequencies used in 2G and 3G. 🙂
2G is on 900 Mhz

3G is on 900 / 2100 Mhz

4G is on 800 / 1800 Mhz (KPN uses band 20 / 800 Mhz)
Thanks a lot! 😃
You're welcome..
Hi gsantos,

I'm glad everything worked out! If you have any other questions, let us know.

@Raytje bedankt voor je hulp!

Kind regards,

Caspar
