Hi alexnn,

Welcome to the Simyo Forum! 🙂 In order to keep the forum uncluttered I've moved your question to the correct category.

How peculiar that you cannot connect to a local network in Taiwan. I've taken a look at your information and I see you've got a Prepaid simcard that's set up correctly. I propose that we try a reset of your simcard. On my end I'm going to reset your simcard, the only thing you've got to do is to turn off your phone for about 10 minutes. After that the reset has been completed and you can restart your device and again try to manually connect to a network.

If the above doesn't work, please see if your simcard does work in another phone and see if another simcard works in your device. That way, we can determine if there's a problem with your simcard or phone.

Also, be advised that calling in Taiwan is quite costly as you can see on our website. If you plan to regularly use your phone I'd like to advise you to make use of a locally-bought simcard. :)

Will you keep us posted?

Greetings,
Thomas
Thank you, Thomas!

I've switched off the phone 🙂 will boot it up in 10 min.

My use case in: I'd like to be able to receive SMS from my internet bank 🙂 Without it I cannot make any payments.

I will make another post in 10-15 min
Ok. Phone is booted. Results:

1) Automatic registration -- does not connect
2) manual registration - fails as well
one network found:
Asia Pacific 2G
466 05 (forbidden)

So the problem remains. And I am pretty sure once I back to EU all will be fine..

And do not have another phone to move the sim card 🙂 I actually have dual SIM and other SIM card works in TAIWAN.

Hi alexnn,

Too bad to read that the reset didn't resolve the issue! I've contactd the network specialists, they've checked your account and connection and all seems to be okay. This makes it hard to determine what's going on. Normally, I'd suggest you test your phone and sim as I said in my first reaction. Since that's not an option we might be able to help you further if you supply us with some more details; what phone do you use, have you tried your sim in both sim slots of your dual sim (or júst with the Simyo sim inserted), did you have issues with using your sim in other countries as well, how's your phone set up (roaming settings)?

Hopefully we can find out what's the matter. :)

Greetings,
Thomas
My phone is XIOMI Redme 3 pro. Dual SIM
Works fine in Europe, US, and I think 2 month ago in Japan all was ok.

Only now at Taiwan and 1.5 month ago at Korea the Sim card from Simyo refused to connect.
Now back in NL + BE --> simyo works again.

Hi alexnn,

Thanks for the update! Great to hear it works in The Netherlands and in Belgium. This shows that the connection has no barrings for the use of a network when you're roaming.

Next time you're abroad with this same issue, please check if your sim card works in a different phone. This way we can find out where the problem lies exactly. Will you keep us updated?

Kindest regards,
Els
Hmm.. I got a new phone now: Mi A1... And Simyo card works fine in NL and BE...

If I spot a country where it will not work --> I will post here
